Hope Flows Freely: Domez Camp Sees Progress in Vital Water Network Project

For Syrian refugees at Domez camp, access to clean water is a lifeline. Thankfully, thanks to a collaborative effort spearheaded by KURDS NGO, Qandil Organization, and local authorities with the support of UNHCR, this lifeline is getting a much-needed upgrade.

The Water Network and Water Storage Tank project, initiated on July 20th, 2012, aims to provide potable water for 425 families residing in the camp. Divided into four phases, the project is already making significant strides in its first two stages:

Phase 1 & 2 Completion Rates at 80%: With meticulous progress, both phases are nearing completion, having achieved 80% of their respective targets. This translates to:

This progress offers tangible hope for the families awaiting access to clean water. The elevated tank will ensure consistent supply, while the deep well promises a reliable source. Once completed, Phase 1 and 2 will benefit 211 families, bringing them closer to a fundamental necessity.

Planning for the Future: While Phases 1 and 2 are in full swing, the remaining phases are not forgotten. Planning for Phases 3 and 4 is already underway, ensuring continued access and expanding the network to reach all 425 families in the long run.

In Darashakiran, a beacon of hope shines amidst the challenges faced by Syrian refugees. This camp, established by UNHCR and LA (Local Authority) as a safe haven for refugees crossing through Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG), is being transformed by a collaborative effort spearheaded by UNHCR, UNICEF, IR (International Rescue Committee), Qandil, and KURDS NGO.

This vital project, now 70% complete with a two-month timeframe, brings together diverse expertise to provide essential infrastructural and sanitation facilities for 2,000 families:
